Wanna let the other guy get your job?

My job had disappeared. I was scared. Another re-organisation, a whole scale redefinition of jobs. I didn't know what to do, what job to go for, if I was good enough.

I started my research.  In which jobs would I have most influence and impact? Which ones matched what I thought I was good at? And which ones were slightly scary, but really quite exciting?

I spotted the one. A pure people development role that my IT colleagues scoffed at. I asked my boss what he thought. He shrugged, “What have you got to lose?”.

Getting from A to B

I’ve been re-learning French (as I studied it as a teenager) for two whole weeks now. I’ve been diligently spending between 10 minutes and 30 minutes every day on it and I’m enjoying it.  It’s not too onerous, I can see progress and it’s fun. It’s something that I really want to do. Am I invisible? Get your voice heard!

Third in line I waited patiently until it was finally my turn to talk to one of the speakers at an engineering event. He was very charming and engaging and we were just getting to business when this huge 'honey monster' of a man (really - he was HUGE!) came out of nowhere, started talking to the speaker, with not even a glance in my direction.

I was quite taken aback. The speaker looked at me and I looked at him. I put my hands up and shrugged and made a joke about being 'cut in' and he smiled and said he would talk to me later.

Reflect and then make your resolutions!

Reflecting on 2014 on Crawfordsburn beach as part of our Visioning workshopDid you know that over a third of resolutions don’t make it past January and over three quarters are abandoned soon after? We're pretty sure this doesn’t surprise you. After all, your resolutions were probably hastily shared on New Years evening without much conviction or forethought.

Even if you did sit down and write this year's goals, it is likely they are the same list as last year - lose weight, go to the gym etc. How excited are you about those this time around?

So we invite you do something more empowering that will work
